PRESS RELEASE: FIRST ANNUAL SPRING ANTIQUES FAIR TO BE A THREE-DAY EVENT AT VENTFORT HALL, JUNE 1 – 3

Ventfort Hall Mansion and Gilded Age Museum will be the setting for its first annual spring antiques fair planned in cooperation with the Rhinebeck Antiques Fair organization. The event, with dealers on view in the historic 1896 Lenox mansion and on the estate grounds, will be open to the general public on Saturday, June 2, from 10:00am to 5:00pm, and on Sunday, June 3, from 10:00am to 4:00pm, rain or shine. A preview cocktail party will take place on Friday, June 1, from 6:00 to 8:00pm.

Berkshire County is a new region for the Rhinebeck organization and Ventfort Hall is its first historic house venue in the 36 years it has been in business. Known for its famous annual antiques fair in Rhinebeck, New York, as well as the developer of other shows, the group will bring to Ventfort Hall such leading dealers as Knollwood Antiques, South Bridge, MA, specialists in antique home furnishings encompassing all cultures, centuries and mediums; J. Gallagher Antiques, North Norwich, NY, since 1974 top dealers in 18^th and 19^th century fireplace equipment; Michael Weinstein Antiques, Binghamton, NY, fine antique jewelry and watches; Terra Mare Antiques, Sharon, CT, antique ceramics.

Also included are GPSF Antiques, Glenham, NY, Victorian, Country, Arts & Crafts and Midcentury furniture, also art, lighting and Country, French, Italian smalls and Philatelic; Debblie Turi Antiques, Roseland, NJ, a broad range of unique items; The Rathbun Gallery, Wakefield, RI, American paintings and Country and Shaker furniture; Merle Koblenz Antiques, South Kent, CT, estate and antique jewelry; Maile Allen Antiques, Poughquag, NY, antique prints and maps; Donna Kmetz American Paintings, Douglas, MA, American paintings emphasizing New England Impressionism; Hanes & Ruskin Antiques, Old Lyme, CT, 18^th and 19^th American furniture, English ceramics, needlework, lighting, silhouettes, paintings and metalware. This is just a partial listing.

The cocktail preview party will be hosted by Ventfort Hall board members Alice Nathan and Irving Marks. Admission is $25 per person and includes an early showing of all the dealers, as well as wine, refreshments and cash bar.

An Official Project of Save America’s Treasures program of The White House, Ventfort Hall Mansion and Gilded Age Museum offers tours of the historic mansion, as well as lectures, concerts, teas, theater and other programs. This elegant Jacobean-Revival Berkshire “cottage,” listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is open to the public year-around and is available for private rental. Built in 1893 for George and Sarah Morgan (sister of the financier, J. P. Morgan), Ventfort Hall has undergone substantial restoration, which continues.
